Porcupine quill injuries in dogs: A retrospective of 296 cases (1998–2002)

摘要: The purpose of this retrospective study was to identify factors associated with quill injury in dogs. A second objective determine the risk complications and any that would predict likelihood complications. Hospital records 296 porcupine injuries dogs from 1998 2002 were studied. There an increased occurrence encounters spring fall months; Siberian huskies, rottweilers, German shepherd crosses significantly overrepresented for injuries. no association between either number quills or antimicrobial use. Increasing time presentation Because frequency complication a longer interval until presentation, clients should be strongly encouraged bring dog as soon is discovered. Patients presented after 24 hours monitored closely during first 3 weeks injury, most occurred time.
