A birds eye view of the present state of drug abuse in Japan

摘要: Abstract In my previous report a brief history of drug dependence in Japan after the end World War II was presented [1]. Methamphetamine 1950s succeeded by heroin 1960s. After decline amphetamine and epidemics, methaqualone analgesics were generally abused, especially younger population. At present, there are two major problems related to dependence: (i) second epidemic methamphetamine abuse since 1970 (ii) gluesniffing particularly among youth beginning 1972.
