摘要: Scale questions are particularly important for organisms which range over large areas, as pelagic seabirds do. The investigations of scale practical importance describing patch size predator and prey, determining the appropriate study correcting survey transects. We conducted this in order to explore a substantially wider diversity spatial scales than has previously been attempted bird literature. As an example monitoring datasets dealing with seabirds, we use PIROP (Programme integre pour le recherche des oiseaux pelagiques) data set investigate relevant issues these species Northwestern Atlantic. analyzed autocorrelation within selected winter summer transects, 1 degree analysis units (‘bins’) collected June–August 1966–1992. also investigated effects unit on counting results links between their environment (depth, sea surface salinity temperature). 1, 2, 5 10 degrees units; ecological mapping (‘Banks’ not deeper 200 m) political (management convention zones North Atlantic Fisheries Organization, NAFO) were included. Using ‘binning’ various scales, our show that Coefficient Variation seabird abundances varies among aggregation associations can effects. Autocorrelation indicated some distinct larger sizes particular during breeding season.
