摘要: Abstract This retrospective study sought to identify a regular pattern of limb bruising which occurs in association with suicidal or accidental hanging. Following exclusion cases suspicious for homicide, 82 consecutive hanging from 10-year period were retrospectively reviewed the traumatic injury each case. Relevant information such as location, toxicology, and type suspension was also noted. 72% had lesions, majority occurred on posterior upper anterior lower limb. Although distribution our mirrored that found literature, incidence is much higher than previous studies (7.4–20%). could either be due differences confounding factors intoxication location practice recording trauma between centres. Neither nor significantly associated an increased injury. Positive toxicology increase likelihood sustaining (p = .044084). In conclusion, presence this well documented lesions should not always raise suspicion foul play.
