摘要: Biodegradability under composting conditions is assessed by test methods, such as ASTM D 5338-92, based on the measurement of CO2 released materials when mixed with mature compost and maintained in a controlled environment. However, real composting, biodegradation occurs fresh waste. To clarify this point, paper starch-based biodegradable thermoplastic material, Mater-Bi ZI01U, was followed measuring weight loss samples introduced either into or synthetic The higher at beginning but tended to decrease; waste first lag phase an exponential phase. Complete degradation noticed simultaneously two substrates (after 25 days). bulkier were fully degraded after 20 days waste, 45 compost. Therefore, methods using substrate can possibly underestimate rate occurring i.e., plants, have be considered conservative methods. procedure described seems very suitable screening method verify compostability plastic
