摘要: The theory of nuclear reactions is extended so as to include a statistical treatment multi-step processes. Two types are distinguished, the compound and direct. wave functions for system grouped according their complexity. direct process involves explicitly those states which open, while bound. In addition random phase assumption applied differently cross-sections, it assumed that residual interaction will have non-vanishing matrix elements between whose complexities differ by at most one unit. This referred chaining hypothesis. Explicit expressions double differential cross-section giving angular distribution energy spectrum obtained both reaction types. cross-sections symmetric about 90/sup 0/. classical special limiting case. consists set convolutions single-step cross-sections. For many step case possible derive diffusion equation in momentum space. Application made /sup 181/Ta(p,n)/sup 181/W using multi-stepmore » formalism.« less
