摘要: Abstract This paper presents a comparative investigation between numerical flow simulations and the experimental data of vibrating cantilever. The unsteady fields were observed with smoke visualization, velocities measured by high-resolution PIV (particle image velocimetry). Although results provide an intuitive understanding about vortex formation from cantilever, it is difficult to determine underlying mechanism generation due limitation temporal spatial resolution. Numerical conducted using commercial code user-defined function describing cantilever movement. comparison experiment simulation mainly covers velocity fields, vorticity distributions location as well size during one cycle. Qualitatively, match simulation. axial (with respect tip) vortices are also in good agreement data. Once validated, access whole field including pressure has been evaluated detail understand at It was found that static difference across tip plays important role development each individual vortex. In addition, possible find exact moment initiation tip.
