Effect of bending and torsional mode excitation on the reaction Cl+CH4-->HCl+CH3.

摘要: A beam containing CH4, Cl2, and He is expanded into a vacuum chamber where CH4 prepared via infrared excitation in combination band consisting of one quantum each the bending torsional modes (ν2+ν4). The reaction initiated by fast Cl atoms generated photolysis Cl2 at 355nm, resulting CH3 HCl products are detected state-specific manner using resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI). By comparing relative amplitudes action spectra Cl+CH4(ν2+ν4) Cl+CH4(ν3) reactions, we determine that ν2+ν4 mode-driven least 15% as reactive ν3 (antisymmetric stretch) reaction. REMPI spectrum shows no propensity toward formation umbrella bend mode excited methyl radical, CH3(ν2=1), which sharp distinction to theoretical expectation based on adiabatic correlations between CH3. rotational distribution HCl(v=1) from hott...
