HPV DNA IN OROPHARYNGEAL SQUAMOUS CELL CANCERS: COMPARISON OF RESULTS FROM FOUR DNA DETECTION METHODS

摘要: Oropharyngeal squamous cell cancers (SCCs) were examined for human papillomavirus (HPV) related DNA sequences. The techniques employed Southern blotting under stringent and non conditions, dot blotting, primer directed gene amplification using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in-situ hybridization. HPV 16 was found in 4 of 30 tumor samples PCR. 2 further tumors No could be by blot or any sample. assays sensitive enough to detect clonally integrated length greater than 250 bp tumors. While is present some oropharyngeal SCCs, there no molecular evidence support a causal association products with continued growth cancer.
