摘要: AIMS: To obtain accurate incidence data for myelodysplasia in the Wellington Region of New Zealand (NZ), to analyse treatment these patients received and review their outcome. METHODS: Patients diagnosed with between 1 January 2002 September 2007 were identified. Their bone marrow biopsy, clinical record, cytogenetic analysis transfusion record analyzed. RESULTS: Seventy myelodysplastic identified yielding an 2.75 per 100,000 year. Median survival was 23 months, transformation acute leukaemia occurred five (7.1%). Three (4.3%) allogeneic transplant, (7.1%) disease modifying treatment. Fifty-six 70 (80%) a blood transfusion, mean 32.9 red cell (RBC) units transfused each recipient during study period 68 months. One developed syndrome iron overload. CONCLUSION: The Wellington, NZ is similar figures from previously published studies. predominantly supportive through RBC transfusion. Effective chelation therapy measures not used although there appeared be low overload population. this will available comparison future studies assess trends incidence, outcome NZ.
