摘要: The metal mining industry has experienced a marked boom in Finland since the beginning of 21st century, driven by general rise price levels base metals, iron and gold, particular. started with increased exploration mine development activity, from 2007 onwards mined ore to all-time highs. Before current boom, had been suffering gradual downturn during 1990s, was considered as minor branch economic structure country. Furthermore, strong domestic metals lean increasingly on imported mineral raw materials. rapid growth activity country now raised expectations socio-economic benefits, but also fears environmental degradation negative effects other lines business, such nature tourism. Reflecting this, already faced more intensive opposition than ever its history Finland. reflects changed values civil society towards good socioeconomic performance industry. In this thesis study, future directions Finnish related expected were examined, well trade minerals governance context origin countries. focus considering pressures material flows production chains (e.g. life cycle assessment flow analysis), investigating roles governance, academia striving sustainability results suggest that international Finland, abroad processing are higher pressures. However, increasing, will most probably continue grow future. This potential bring prosperity country, increases reaching sustainable industry, co-operation between be profound. Environmental protection strengthened preventing further accidents mines needs key goal. Further developments environmentally sound technologies help both steer enhance competitiveness technology branch. Additionally, transparent CSR communication strategies companies raise common knowledge acceptance mining. Finally, careful legislation solid project feasibility planning support continuation climate fluctuation.
