摘要: The French clitic system has posed a persistent challenge to transformational syntactic analysis, which never produced successful account of problems such as ordering. Lexicalist alternatives, however, have been reconciled with the full range familiar and growing body known lexical idiosyncracies. We present lexicalist treatment that treats all 'clitics' pronominal affixes, whose ordering is templatic in nature. On our account, order affixes independent general properties structures; cliticized words - treated valence-reduced realizations verbal lexemes enter syntax fully inflected. conclusions we reach grammatical architectures seek explain behavior clitics terms functional projections, head movement and/or Mirror Principle
