摘要: We present observations of a major outburst at centimeter, millimeter, optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray wavelengths the BL Lacertae object AO 0235+164. analyze timing multi-waveband variations in flux linear polarization, as well changes Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) images 7mm with 0.15 milliarcsecond resolution. The association events different wavebands is confirmed high statistical significance by probability arguments Monte-Carlo simulations. A series sharp peaks optical pronounced maximum 7 mm polarization superluminal jet knot, indicate rapid fluctuations degree ordering magnetic field. These results lead us to conclude that occurred both quasi-stationary "core" parsecs downstream supermassive black hole. interpret consequence propagation disturbance, elongated along line sight light-travel time delays, passes through standing recollimation shock core propagates down create knot. multi-wavelength light curves vary together on long time-scales (months/years), but correspondence poorer shorter time-scales. This, variability dual location outburst, agrees expectations multi-zone emission model which turbulence plays role modulating synchrotron inverse Compton fluxes.
