摘要: This investigation evaluates various numerical algorithms; each designed to generate periodic 2-D Representative Volume Elements (RVEs) containing foam-like microstructures suitable for direct import into commercial finite element software mechanical evaluation. The operation of algorithm is discussed and the resulting RVEs are examined from both a morphological perspective. A basic Voronoi-based found be simple implement but method shown produce inherently anisotropic microstructures. Increasing degree irregularity microstructure reduces anisotropy at cost creating unrealistic microstructures, highly angular cells. modifying such using centroidal tessellation relaxation demonstrated, ultimately producing with relatively realistic mono-disperse An alternative also investigated advantage this its ability poly-disperse controllable poly-dispersity an almost fully isotropic response.
