摘要: Heat treatments reduce the strength and ductility of wood, but extent depends on direction load treatment conditions applied. The tensile behavior wood is very sensitive to heat treatments, there a lack understanding how this related different conditions. In study, we treated homogeneous micro-veneers under time-, temperature-, moisture-environments compared effect veneers based their chemical composition changes. results confirmed adverse preferential hemicellulose removal toughness wood. However, changes could not fully explain dry heat-treated which showed an additional loss in maximum work traction at same residual content wet scission cellulose chains as well enhanced cross-linking cell wall matrix elevated temperatures was discussed factors. helped preserving properties when testing water-saturated state, may have also promoted formation cracks that propagated across during loading.
