摘要: This paper gives an overview of the impact relaxometry in bioinorganic chemistry. It is taken from a lecture dedicated to Seymour H. Koenig that author presented at 5th Chianti Workshop Magnetic Resonance, San Miniato, Pisa, Italy, May 30-June 5, 1993. After short introduction and definition relaxometry, basic principles field-cycling are illustrated, with reference Koenig-Brown relaxometer. Through brief survey early relaxometric data on paramagnetic solutions dating back 1950s 1960s, attention devoted Koenig's discovery, 1970s, anomalous profiles metalloprotein theoretical problems encountered their interpretation. Then advances made 1980s theory electron nucleus interactions slowly-rotating systems summarized. These were largely due fruitful between Koenig, Bertini his group University Florence author, first later Bologna. digression obtaining relaxation rates measurements physical meaning, recent progresses understanding detailed behaviour aqueous metal ions presented. Again, insight into phenomena highlighted. Finally, exciting perspectives 1990s field contrast agents, particularly superparamagnets, where again forefront, briefly described.
