摘要: Amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP) is caused by consumption of that have accumulated domoic acid, a neurotoxin produced some strains phytoplankton. The neurotoxic properties acid result in neuronal degeneration and necrosis specific regions the hippocampus. A serious outbreak ASP occurred Canada 1987 involved 150 reported cases, 19 hospitalisations 4 deaths after contaminated mussels. Symptoms ranged from gastrointestinal disturbances, to effects such as hallucinations, memory loss coma. Monitoring programmes are place numerous countries worldwide closures harvesting areas occur when concentrations exceed regulatory limits. This paper reviews chemistry, sources, metabolism toxicology well human case reports discusses possible mechanism toxicity.
