System and method for providing a proxy FARP for legacy storage devices

摘要: A method and system in a fibre channel network (10) for discovering the location of storage device (20, 30) that does not support address resolution protocol FARP using broadcast router (18) as proxy. The determines node names each connected to it save look-up table (22). then sends request on responds, flagging corresponding name compatible, respond, being compatible. When directed any devices is received at router, if compatible by accessing reply contains physical device.
