摘要: In 1968 six infants with cleft lip and palate were reported who had been born to mothers taken anticonvulsants during pregnancy (Meadow, 1968). A request was made doctors in Britain notify abnormal babies suffering from epilepsy. This resulted the reporting of 32 children, 20 whom and/or eight congenital heart lesions 1970); 11 noted have a particular characteristic facial appearance. Analysis birth dates incidence epilepsy suggested that more children epileptic than would expected by chance Moreover, all taking anticonvulsant drugs pregnancy. might be teratogenic, raised possibility antifolate activity anti-convulsants mechanism.
