The kinematic and kinetic effects of solid, hinged, and no ankle–foot orthoses on stair locomotion in healthy adults

摘要: This study compared the effects of a unilateral solid ankle-foot orthosis (AFO), hinged AFO and no (shoe) worn by healthy adults on pelvic angles, lower extremity joint moments powers, temporal-spatial gait characteristics during stair locomotion. A convenience sample 19 participated in this repeated measures design with subjects serving as their own controls. Subjects ambulated stairs wearing left shoe either right AFO, or shoe. Kinematic kinetic data were collected motion analysis equipment force plate for three conditions. Pelvic angles hip, knee ankle powers stance to determine differences among walked slower locomotion shorter single limb support time descent. Sagittal similar individuals pull-up (PU) ascent controlled lowering (CL) Decreased dorsiflexion angle, plantar flexion power, angle extensor moment seen PU CL Findings contributed understanding how biomechanical changes imposed at resulted more kinematic compensations than without confounding neuromuscular impairments.
