摘要: Background and objective: Random errors from any source will attenuate epidemiological risk estimates. Before we launched the Shanghai Mens Health Study (SMHS) a large population-based cohort study investigating diet-cancer association among Chinese men dietary calibration was conducted 96 aged 40-75 years (mean age 56.5 years) with biweekly 24-hour recalls (24HDRs) implemented over 1-year period. Data this were analysed to evaluate nature magnitude of variances for intake 26 nutrients SMHS participants compare variance ratios women individuals in other studies estimate number 24HDRs required future similar populations. Design: Ninety-six healthy free-living administered 24HDR interviews 24 times To assess between-individual within-individual contributions mixed effects model fitted (s(2)(-w)/s(2)(-b)) computed. Setting: China. Results: In agreement reports USA many countries found that usually larger than all nutrients. The sum variation (e.g. weekday weekend seasonal interviewer) accounted less 5% total variation. Ratios within- (for log-transformed data) ranged 1.25 carbohydrate near 8 d-tocopherol intake. Conclusions: results suggest middle-aged elderly account more 95% Further validation same population could be adequately carried out only 12 days if 100 enrolled. (authors)
