摘要: Soil conservation management practices can impact on soil C storage. Long- and short-term data sets from three research sites were used to assess effects of content soils the southern Appalachian Piedmont Georgia. Intensive cultivation resulted in no observable change total at end 3 yr, but 16 yr there 40% 18% declines conventional tillage (CT) no-tillage (NT) soils, respectively, Horseshoe Bend site. No significant changes observed either CT or NT Griffin. Higher clay Griffin may have contributed this difference. Newly established plots C-depleted Dawson Field showed both a highly eroded Pacolet sandy loam slightly Cecil loam. A under long-term accumulated mean rate ca. 0.6 Mg ha ˇ1 , reaching 29 after 20 yr. Steady-state levels region approach 40 (0‐20 cm depth). Long-term forested sod-based contents approximating steady-state, while fertilized exceeded estimated steadystate level. # 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
