摘要: Ostracods have a long history of service to geology. Charles Lyell recognised their value for palaeoecological reconstructions as early 1824 with his observations on Scottish Quaternary lake deposit, while Edward Forbes in 1851 used them subdivide the Upper Jurassic Purbeck Beds Dorset southern England possibly oldest zonal scheme based upon microfossils. The first these two themes will be developed here, namely application Ostracod studies fields environmental analysis. are probably best known this, where distribution through wide variety aqueous habitats allows unique contribution from micropalaeontology understanding ancient environments.
