摘要: In a population of the haplometrotic paper waspPolistes riparius, nest is sometimes usurped by foundress who has lost its before worker emergence. Probability nest's being during pre-emergence stage was 0.11–0.23. Foundresses did not yet have workers rarely rebuilt destroyed nests, while those with frequently so. Therefore, it seems that tends to usurp another's if her original emergence, whereas she rebuilds already emerged. About 70% nests which were in pre-male substage rebuilt, and about produced mean 10–20 reproductives both sexes as compared 60–90 for non-destroyed nests.
