摘要: Abstract A seismic assessment and advanced retrofit study on two heritage-listed reinforced concrete (R/C) elevated water storage tanks is presented in this paper. The structures were built between the late 1920s early 1930s as suppliers for a coal power plant Santa Maria Novella Station Florence, are still service. first, taller tank has R/C frame supporting structure currently used supplier trains platform services. second, shorter tank, with shaft-shell structure, tower Station. dynamic behaviour of fluid simulated by means classical convective impulsive mass model, which discrete three-dimensional schematization originally implemented finite element analysis. time–history enquiry highlights numerical collapse unsafe tensile stress states large portion shaft one, under action scaled at maximum considered earthquake level. Based these results, hypotheses proposed, namely dissipative bracing system incorporating pressurized viscous spring-dampers, base isolation including double curved surface sliders, one. mechanical parameters, design criteria technical implementation details rehabilitation strategies illustrated. verification analyses protected conditions show that substantial enhancement response capacities both attained compared to their original configurations, little architectural intrusion, quick installation works competitive costs.
