Developmental milestones and disclosure of sexual orientation among gay, lesbian, and bisexual youths

摘要: Abstract A total of 63 males and 54 females from the southeastern United States who averaged 20 years age (range=14–27) answered a questionnaire concerned with coming-out milestones, disclosure, self-esteem for gay, lesbian, bisexual youths. The mean ages first awareness same-sex attraction (11 years), sexual contact (16 disclosure their identity (17 years) were similar to other recent young samples. order these milestones varied among subgroups gays, lesbians, bisexuals, proportions out one or both parents differed bisexuals African Americans. findings suggest diverse individual trajectories as opposed an invariant sequence experiences highlight need greater attention differences in orientation development.
