摘要: The adaptive optics system ALFA differs in some aspects from systems like ADONIS and PUEO which have delivered scientific results since years. Interchangeable lenslet arrays with different numbers of subapertures a deformable mirror many more actuators than the number corrected modesresult peculiarities calibration reconstruction incident wavefronts. We describe design ALFA's its modal control architecture focus on comparative study performance mode sets used to correct wavefront aberrations. An outlook our plans improve simplify use is given. The last section dedicated issues related observing present state. Expected Strehl ratios for seeing conditions guide star magnitudes are summarized table. AO observations general, direct imaging doing spectroscopywith particular discussed.
