摘要: The power law form of the secondary electron cascade from bombarded solids first suggested by Sickafus is explored both theoretically and experimentally. Backgrounds AE−m are shown to result a range different theoretical models electron-solid interaction in which generation fast secondaries Compton scattering transport surface treated separately. precise value exponent m seen depend upon balance between elastic strength energy dependence inelastic mean free path. The experimental results for eight samples with atomic numbers 6 78 reported. constant A appears be related number density valence band electrons. values fall within predicted arguments. generality many materials useful estimation Auger back-scattering co-efficient path measurement parameters m.
