摘要: Psychiatrists must be alert to the possibility of patients with herpes encephalitis being admitted psychiatric units, and they should aware difficulties in differential diagnosis catatonic stupor. One case history demonstrates how stupor can easily equated schizophrenia. The such requires (1) a careful study mental status, focusing on cognitive functions as attention, orientation, memory; (2) examination pupils, eye movements, respiration rate, motor movements; (3) amobarbital (Amytal) interview possible electroencephalogram. Further work-up is best performed by neurologist.
