摘要: A method has been developed, and is here briefly described, by means of which all the wireworm larvae stages can be collected from soil samples. By use that method, complete populations have obtained samples three types, two provide large homogeneous for detailed study while third gives information about seasonal spatial infestation fields. These collections show population English pasture land on average times as commonly supposed. Populations found ranging up to ten millions per acre in top 12 in. soil. In pastures studied intensively throughout year, consist numbers small larvae, decreasing larger comparatively few very usually allowed represent population. Such a composition shown characteristic under old grass at seasons year several fields different parts country. This result suggests research problem it desirable take into consideration whole not merely during cropping season.
