摘要: Background The Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) Guidelines were published in 2008 to increase the completeness, precision and accuracy of reports systematic efforts improve quality, value safety healthcare. Since that time, field has expanded. We asked people from evaluate Guidelines, a novel approach first step revision. Methods Evaluative design using focus groups semi-structured interviews with 29 end users an advisory group 18 thinkers field. Sampling was purposive achieve variation work setting, geographic location, area expertise, manuscript writing experience, healthcare improvement research experience. Results Study participants reported SQUIRE useful planning project, but not as helpful during because redundancies, uncertainty about what important include lack clarity items. concept "planning study intervention" (item 10) hard many understand. Participants varied their interpretation meaning item 10b "the mechanism by which changes expected occur". disagreed whether iterations intervention should be reported. Level experience writing, knowledge science evolving some terms are hypothesised reasons these findings. Conclusions original help work, perceived complicated unclear writing. Key goals revision will clarify items where conflict identified outline key components necessary complete reporting work.
