摘要: Forest fragmentation and habitat loss are among the major current extinction causes. Remaining fragments mostly small, isolated showing poor quality. Being primarily arboreal, Neotropical primates generally sensitive to effects. Furthermore, involved in complex ecological process. Thus, landscape changes that negatively interfere with primate population dynamic affect structure, composition, ultimately viability of whole community. We evaluated if fragment size, isolation visibility matrix permeability important for explaining occurrence three species. Employing playback, we verified presence Callicebus nigrifrons, Callithrix aurita Sapajus nigritus at 45 forest around municipality Alfenas, Brazil. classified metrics through predictive models occurrence. selected best Akaike Selection Criterion. Aiming validating our results, applied plausible another region (20 neighboring Poco Fundo, Brazil). Twelve were plausible, validated, two (Area Area+Visibility) one nigrifrons (Area+Matrix). Our results reinforce contribution size maintain biodiversity within highly degraded habitats. At same time, they stress importance including novel, biologically relevant studies, such as permeability, which can provide invaluable help similar studies future on conservation practices long run.
