摘要: Purpose Based on a clinical observation, this study was initiated to examine whether treatment with lamotrigine (LTG) is associated an increased risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) sub-groups patients, and explore the underlying causes mortality rate population. Materials methods A nested case-control SUDEP Rogaland county, Norway conducted by review post mortem reports, data from Norwegian Cause Death Registry, hospital records. We also examined twenty-six newly diagnosed patients signal-averaged standard electrocardiography. Fifteen were treated LTG ten carbamazepine (CBZ). Furthermore (COD) deceased at Stavanger University Hospital compared COD general Results The incidence significantly elevated females LTG, higher proportion female victims controls. No significant electrocardiographic abnormalities detected 25 that completed study. lower had died cardiac disease In cases, onset disorder leading preceded epilepsy. Conclusions Treatment SUDEP. However, it remains uncertain causal relationship present. found no evidence caused or CBZ. Comorbid disorders main determinants
