摘要: Concerns have been raised regarding selection against the boar taint compounds, androstenone and skatole, due to potential unfavorable genetic correlations with important male fertility traits (i.e., of boars low levels these compounds might also reduce fertility). Hence, objective this investigation was study association between direct measures in Danish Landrace pigs. Concentrations skatole back fat were available for approximately 6,000 1,000 boars, respectively. The litter size traits, such as total number born, live piglets at d 5, piglet survival until 5 on relatives slaughter extracted from breeding program, yielding 35,715 records. Semen volume, sperm concentration, subjective quality score, 95,267 ejaculates. These ejaculates collected 2005 2012 originated 3,145 12 AI stations Denmark. analyzed using single multitrait animal models including univariate random regression models. Skatole concentrations moderate highly heritable 0.33 0.59, respectively). correlation two (0.40). Genetic variance production per ejaculate increased during productive life boar, resulting heritability estimates increasing 0.18 0.31. different ages high generally larger than 0.8, indicating that later merit can be predicted records an early age. (based service-sire component) both born 0.02, effects additive effect ranged 0.05 -0.40 (none significantly zero). Most importantly, semen tended more favorable increase age boars. In conclusion, data suggest reduced through without negatively affecting
