摘要: Infection with intestinal parasites is a common problem among poor urban populations in African countries and the Middle East. The authors assessed prevalence of infection children younger than five years old an community Khartoum factors involved. community-based prospective study was conducted from March 1990 to February 1991. Drinking large clay pots. 298 stool specimens were examined 300 randomly selected under three police force residential representing population 4962 individuals. 116 samples positive for single parasite while 15 showed ova cysts two types giving rate 44%. most infections giardiasis (21.1%) taeniasis (10.4%) enterobiasis (7.4%). Nonpathogenic E. coli histolytica Taenia saginata detected 2.7% 0.7% 1.7% respectively. Children aged 3 older affected group highest illiterate overcrowded large-sized families. Malnourished comprised 9.4% but significant association found between undernutrition overall infestations although Giardia lamblia significantly undernourished group.
