摘要: AIMS While angiotensin-con-verting enzyme inhibitors and zidovudine may improve the course of most common HIV-related renal disease, HIV-associated nephropathy (HIVAN), effect anti-retroviral combination therapy on this other diseases has not been assessed. This study describes clinical protease their progression. METHODS retrospective cohort reviews 19 patients with a or biopsy-proven diagnosis HIVAN diseases. Groups progressing to ESRD were compared using longitudinal analyses assess association between creatinine clearance therapeutic factors. RESULTS The consisted 16 African-Americans, 2 Caucasians 1 Native American. Their modes HIV infection intravenous drug use (7), history men having sex (3) heterosexual behavior (5). Patients followed for median 16.6 months. Seven reached ESRD. Loss over time did differ among genders, races, different infection. Longitudinal demonstrated an prednisone slower decline in multivariable models (p = 0.04 0.003, respectively). CONCLUSIONS epidemiology is more heterogeneous than previously described. suggests benefit progression these nephropathies.
