The Impact of Open Development Initiatives in Lower- and Middle Income Countries: A Review of the Literature

摘要: The purpose of this paper is to explore the field open development in lower and middle income countries (LMIC) through a review literature. We examined 269 articles between 2010 2015, that were retrieved keyword searches Scopus database four ICT4D journals. This article adopts pathway effects model analyze contributions according inputs, mechanisms outputs initiatives LMICs. finds fairly even spread across three stages effects. Studies disentangled reasons why or not openness makes difference provided most insight underlying impact initiatives. found very little evidence research within area concerned with perspectives poor marginalized people – notably women. therefore question normative value as means transform power relations. However, we argue more concentrated vision needed exploit full potential digitally enabled for development.
