摘要: OBJECTIVE: To define the psychological outcome at 5 years of a sample non-head-injured motor vehicle accident victims and identify baseline predictors. METHODS: Self-report questionnaires were completed by 111 consecutive subjects who had been injured in earlier assessed previously prospective 1-year study. RESULTS: Although most reported good outcome, substantial minority described continuing social, physical, difficulties quarter those studied suffered phobic anxiety about travel as driver or passenger. There was little change quality life effects on between assessments 3 months, 1 year, years. The prevalence posttraumatic stress disorder remained approximately 10% throughout follow-up; early cases remitted years, similar number delayed new onsets occurred year PTSD predicted physical postaccident intrusive memories emotional distress. Compensation proceedings initiated 66 often prolonged cause no significant associations with outcome. Trends for poor claimants, especially not settled may be due to their having more serious problems.
