摘要: Background: Ileostomy is used for surgical management of many congenital and acquired conditions gastrointestinal tract. This study was conducted to evaluate the results early closure ileostomy. Methodology: case series undertaken at Saidu Teaching Hospital Swat from January 2007 2010. Closures were carried out with 2-3/0 vicryl (polygalectin 910) in two layers. Patients kept ward postoperatively 5-10 days, any complication noted. Results: The patients studied 45; 28 males 17 females, male female ratio 1.6:1. Age range 3-50 years. Duration stoma 7-40 days average 23.5. Three operated same admission, rest either 2nd or 3rd admission. Sixteen had complications associated while admitted only closure. All recovered anesthesia uneventfully. Only 2 leaked post-operatively, both having tuberculous abdomen, one died sepsis multiorgan dysfunction, re-explored ileostomy refashioned. Eleven developed mild moderate wound infection, among them 7 already skin excoriation. pelvic collection treated conservatively. Five remained ileus 5-8 on nasogastric suction intravenous fluids improved. presented later incisional hernia. Conclusion: Early temporary loop safe low morbidity minimal mortality reduces chances related complications.
