摘要: We determined if supplemental macronutrients or polyethylene glycol (PEG) influenced intake of a tannin diet. Sheep (lambs 5 mo age, 36 kg) and goats (kids 7 32 were fed supplements high in either energy protein offered choice between the two before after receiving meal containing 15% quebracho tannin. The effect PEG, compound that attenuates negative effects tannins, was assessed by offering PEG while animals consumed diet for 4 h/d. Intake both PEG. Animals chose their own received high-protein supplement, more than high-energy supplement: 34 vs 31 g/kg(0.75) (lambs) 41 39 (kids), respectively (P < 0.05). supplemented with ate much unsupplemented animals: 70 63 0.001). food when given (51 38 g/kg(0.75), P CP supplement ME In so doing, they selected combination foods yielded balanced macronutrients, achieving levels food. can be used as an environmentally safe economically sound means to reduce abundance tannin-rich vegetation. Macronutrients enhance use tannin-containing plants, which may increase production alternate forages create diverse mix species plant community.
