Probe Studies of Energy Distributions and Radial Potential Variations in a Low Pressure Mercury Arc

摘要: Probe measurements were made in the plasma of a low pressure mercury arc. The electron‐energy distributions showed depletions from Maxwellian distribution high energy range. Coupling effects between adjacent probes investigated and found to be quite small but proper direction agree with Langmuir‐Tonks theory. Drift‐current distortion random was measured bidirectional probe compared A multisection extending tube axis wall allowed determination radial potential density variations.
