摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reports the most relevant aspects related to preparation and characterization of macromolecular structures incorporating furan heterocycles or moieties arising from them. It discusses major chemical features furans synthesis furfural hydroxymethyl furfural, which constitute basic precursors monomers suitable for both chain- step growth polymerizations. then deals with free radical, cationic, anionic, stereospecific polymerization copolymerizations step-growth systems monomers. Particular emphasis is placed on polyesters, polyamides, polyurethanes, conjugated oligomers as promising architectures. application Diels–Alder reaction properties linear, crosslinked dendritic macromolecules, a strong accent reversible nature these constructions. Finally, aging polymers briefly discussed.
