摘要: Abstract A national land classification developed by the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology (ITE) was used to stratify a sample‐based survey cover and linear boundary features within catchment River Tyne, Northern England. total 115 1‐km grid‐squares from four classes representative Lowland Pastoral, Arable, Marginal Upland landscapes were surveyed in field. The are described with an emphasis on variability types features. Considerable variation between squares same class observed, but statistically significant differences identified. Variation lengths related compositions sample squares. origins intra‐land application ITE large‐scale surveys discussed.
