摘要: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a major contributing factor to non-reversible vision loss in the aging population developed world, but as of yet, it still poorly understood disease with few no approved treatments, depending on form disease. AMD has two primary forms: non-exudative (dry) and exudative (wet) form. Many recent lines evidence indicate that may have strong autoimmune component. The complement cascade, inflammasome, angiogenic signaling pathways are particular interest targets for future therapeutic development. Herein we will discuss potential roles inflammation, angiogenesis, metal lipid dysmetabolism, genetics play development progression AMD. Although there current effective therapies treatment certain forms AMD, growing body knowledge concerning different facets age-related processes associated this offers host exciting new approaches be focus investigations.
