摘要: Abstract In an effort to improve the selectivity of beam trawls in Belgian flatfish fishery, codend size three and two roundfish species were compared testing 80 mm diamond-shaped mesh (T0) versus turned 90° (T90) using covered method. Eight models considered describe selective performance T0 T90 codends for each species; four traditional models, along with that contact probability (the fraction fish will not make proper meshes size-dependent escape). Fifteen hauls completed North Sea, fishing both simultaneously. The results demonstrated significantly increased investigated, whiting ( Merlangius merlangus ) pouting Trisopterus luscus ), decreased species, sole Solea solea plaice Pleuronectes platessa dab Limanda limanda ). Selection range (SR) values similar codend, but reduced all by codend. Models provided best model (pouting, sole, plaice, dab), one (sole). Lack adequate could be a result combined effects flow through due remaining more open than during towing, relative high towing speeds trawls. This study concludes although reduces flatfish, lower SR paired larger improved selectivity, increases commonly encountered trawl fishery.
