摘要: The importance of hedges for biodiversity in Britain’s countryside is well known and much research has been undertaken to demonstrate the role hedges play in rural mammal biodiversity and rural bird diversity. Do hedges offer similar benefits to birds and small mammals in urban areas despite the higher levels of disturbance and increased fragmentation of our urban habitats? This study aims to find out.Urban hedges may be a significant component of our existing urban vegetation (although little data on this is available) and even though our understanding of the benefit of urban green infrastructure has increased, the impact of urban hedges on urban biodiversity is not well documented.
