SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATIONS OF STRUCTURALLY-DYNAMIC METALLOPOLYMERS BASED UPON N-HETEROCYCLIC CARBENES

摘要: The influence of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) continues to expand at an impressive rate as new architectures and applications are realized. 1 Recent advances in the synthesis of annulated bis(NHC) systems 2 has lead to new types of conjugated main-chain organometallic polymers that may possess unique combinations of electronic and structurally dynamic behavior. 3 Recently, we have reported the synthesis of bis(NHC) precursors connected through conjugated arenes and their ability to be co-polymerized with group 10 metals, affording a new class of organometallic coordination polymers.
