摘要: Myocardial sarcoendoplasmic calcium ATPase 2 (SERCA2) is critical for heart function and many pathological changes alter SERCA activity. Decreased SERCA impairs calcium homeostasis and depresses cardiac function. Our studies using inhaled halogen have demonstrated that SERCA modification and inactivation contributes significantly to cardiac dysfunction and damage. In this study to further elucidate the mechanistic role of SERCA2 in halogen induced myocardial damage we utilized bromine exposed cardiac specific SERCA knockout mice (tamoxifen administered SERCA (flox/flox) Tg (αMHC-MerCreMer) mice) and compared them to their respective controls.
