摘要: This Symposium, Neutron Scattering-Advances and Applications, was held in Sydney, on the 8-lOth of August 1987 as a satellite of the IUCr congress held immediately afterwards in Perth. It was in a line of similar meetings held in Petten, Argonne, Cracow and Berlin as satellites of previous IUCr Congresses.The Symposium highlighted several aspects of neutron scattering which are pursued in Australia, namely structure and dynamics with an emphasis on high resolution powder diffraction, polarised beam and magnetic work, and more in hope than actuality, industrially relevant projects. The inclusion of a day spent on this last topic came from a convergence of ideas and concerns from the Neutron Diffraction Commission of the IUCr in its meetings three years previously in Berlin and Hamburg, and from the local Australian community.
