摘要: Researchers are working towards developing socially assistive robots (SAR) capable of helping people in diverse situations, including post-stroke rehabilitation, aging-inplace, education/smart tutoring, and therapy for children with autism. One vision of SAR use is in the home, serving to complement the efforts of human experts such as therapists, doctors, and teachers. Among the many research, technical, and logistical challenges in this domain is the need for the robot to interact only only with the target user, but also with parents, siblings, friends, visitors, and extended family members. In fact, given the attraction of inhome robots, one-on-one time with the robot may be more of a exception than the rule in households with families.
